This month, if you open a new account with NTT DoCoMo, the Sony Ericsson Premini is 1¥. But it is the first generation, not the most recent model. Plus, it still cost you $100+ if you already have a DoCoMo account and you just want to change your mobile phone… :(
SonyEricsson’s 802SE is a killer device. Nice screen, SVG compliant, not too big, easy to handle. Much better specs than the Nokia and Motorola 3G-phones. We expect this phone to hit the top rank in Vodafone’s Japanese sales of handsets.

DoCoMo’s FOMA development consortium got a boost yesterday — SonyEricsson and Sharp will join. Both companies will develop FOMA phones based on the Symbian platform. Sharp will introduce its first Symbian phone after 2005 while SonyEricsson has not made any announcments, yet.
The FOMA development group is subsidized by DoCoMo and currently consists of NEC, Panasonic Mobile, Fujitsu, and Mitsuibishi.
DoComo released on Friday November 26th the new Premini-S the SonyEricsson SO213iS. We played with the phone and were impressed.
The phone has a cute design and we did not feel it in our pockets. The keys are blue backlighted and easy to push even with our big fingers. We are disappointed by the small screen. The phone is not for people in need of readingglasses as the characters are too small. With some design efforts, the screen could have been made larger.
Voice quality of this PDC phone is reasonable. The mike is not on the phone front but at the bottom right of the charger port — well done!
Though SonyEricsson was one of the first manufacturers that introduced bluetooth in their phones, it missed a chance to equip this phone with bluetooth that is increasingly becoming popular in the US and Europe.
We are impressed in particular by the design. The premini series sets a new trend in Japan to offer lighter and smaller phones at the cost of functionality.

On November 26, DoCoMo will introduce a new phone in their cute miniature premini series. The new SonyEricsson phone has a size of 92×43x22 mm and weighs 67 gram. Its 1.3 inch display has 160×128 pixels and 65k colours. The premini-S is i-mode enabled and has an embedded e-mail client. Come back tomorrow to watch the latest pics of the premini-S. A user review will be online next week.
