Cellphone comics on the go

Japanese Publisher, Shinchosha, has launched the country’s first digital subscription magazine on the go since March 23rd 2007. The subscription is an online comic that is transmitted to user’s cellphones so that they can keep with with their favorite comic with they’re on the go. It’s a pretty sweet idea. I mean, I can count the number of times I was bored in a bus, a train or a cab.

Com2 is the name of the digital mag and it’s been formatted specifically to fit cellphones since cellphones in Japan is parallel to wallets and money, everybody has one. The subscription will cost 350 Yen a month, which is not too expensive at all. The format can also be accessible online though, so if you only have your wireless laptop or PDA with you, you can still access your favorite comics :)
