User survey - Sharp has the highest user satisfaction
Sharp has the highest user satisfaction among the Japanese handset makers, according to a survey made by J.D. Power Asia Pacific.
The market research company asked 3508 consumers who bought a handset what factors satisfied them. The diagram below shows that design and size are the most important satisfiers followed by battery life and mail functionality.
Sharp handsets scored best among the 11 handset manufacturers. The Kyoto-based company scored on all seven factors above average, in particular on display and camera functionality. Second ranked Sanyo scored high on size, design and battery life. Casio followed on third place with good display, battery, camera and mail functionalities. The two biggest brands, NEC and Panasonic ranked 4th and 5th respectively and scored on below average.
As most new phones come with many new functions, the most important differentiators are design and size. KDDI/AU started last year with design phones that proved to be highly successful driving AU’s growth. Now, DoCoMo bets on size with their premini series. What has Vodafone in their pipeline?
